COVID-19 Stats 23 Jan 2021

This snapshot is taken from data supplied by the NHS at

The data contains information on deaths of patients who have died in hospitals in England and had either tested positive for COVID-19 or where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. All deaths are recorded against the date of death rather than the date the deaths were announced. The figures do not include deaths outside hospital, such as those in care homes. This approach makes it possible to compile deaths data on a daily basis using up to date figures.

Revisions may be made to historic data and are included in each day’s publication. This has been noted, in particular, to have a greater effect on the last 5 days reported totals.

The data covers the period from 01 March 2020 up to and including 22 January 2021.

Difficult to tell whether the rate is plateauing (levelling off) should be able to see more clearly in the next couple of days.
